Pinterest has made me quasi-crafty

Pinterest is like crack. I'm not kidding. On so many levels. Finding new things to pin. New crafts. new things to repurpose. Gifts to make, costumes to sew, food to cook. Then you get all jazzed when people start following your boards. People you know, random people, it doesn't matter. Seeing how many repins you get each week. It's all addicting. I swear Pinterest is a bigger time suck than Facebook, and that bitch is the mother of all time sucks!!

Recently we started redecorating C's room. We (I) decided to go with a groovy guitars theme, because, well because I love lime groovy guitars. Thank you Michael Miller for your awesomeness. Anyway, we had this old bookshelf in his room, and it was just uggo. Looked like typical bachelor furniture. (It was). So, we decided to paint it and give it a new look, thanks to all my inspiration from Pinterest. Off to Home Depot we went, with a groovy guitars hat in hand, and they made a custom paint to match! So, with a sand block, some paint and a brush, we had a complete transformation!

I don't have many pics because seriously, there was nothing to it. Sanded it down just a bit to rough it up, then painted it!

Sorry for the crap lighting.

Pretty cool, huh?!

While Tom was working on that, I had my own little project going on. I found packs of picture frames in groovy guitar-ish colors on clearance at Target. I snagged 2 packs of 3 each in lime and aqua. I wanted to turn a few into chalk boards for Carson to draw on! So, I made a trip to Michaels and snagged some Martha Stewart chalkboard paint on sale. That stuff comes in lots of different colors! This project was super easy, too. I took the glass out of the frames and painted each piece with 2 coats of chalkboard paint. That was it!! They turned out great, and C really digs them!

The supplies.

The frames from Target. Each 3 pack was $5.

The Martha Stewart chalkboard paint.

Sanding block to rough up the glass. I ended up not doing that, and it still worked fine!

First coat!

Easy peasy!

The finished project!

I love that idea for the frames - I see so many things on Pinterest that I want to try also.
