I can't really believe that my baby is old enough for school. How did this happen?! Alas, he IS old enough, and so he started preschool! He only goes one day a week for the morning session. I figure he has 3 years ahead of him before kindergarten, so just once a week is enough!
We talked about school a lot, and how he would get to go and meet new friends and have lots of fun. I figured he'd love it, but wasn't sure how the initial drop off would go. His 'Ma and 'Pa (grandMA and grandPA.. he totally came up with this. Yes, we live like Little House on the Prairie) baby sit him quite often, and he has no issue with us leaving, but he knows them really well. He hasn't ever really been left anywhere else.
Lucky for me, he did AWESOME! He was SUPER excited about school. We got there, and he could barely stand still for me to get a picture! We had been the week before for a short meet and greet, so he'd seen his room and met his teacher. He marched in there like he owned the place! He put his backpack up and started playing. I watched for a few minutes, and then told him I was going to go bye bye, but I'd be back later to get him. He got a concerned look on his face, and I braced myself for some crying, but what did he say? "Mommy, you go bye bye, but I stay and pay (play) my friends, ok?" Little turkey was just worried I was going to make him leave!
Happily, school has continued to be a great experience for him! He LOVES his school, and LOVES his teacher. Mrs. K is such a great lady, we are lucky to have her for his teacher. I almost wish he was going more than once a week, because every day he asks to go! All in all, it's been awesome for him. Without further adieu, here are a few pics!
