CatChick6 Creations Review & Giveaway!

I never thought I'd see the day that I would use wool while cloth diapering. It just seemed like SUCH a hassle! And why bother when you could just slap a cover over the diaper? Or better yet, just use a pocket dipe that didn't even NEED a cover, right?

Um, wrong. I've totally come over to the dark side, and there is no turning back. Wool ROCKS. After hard core teething started around here, and we were on the 857th rash, I decided things had to change. I started reaching for fitted diapers more. They were more breathable. Then we started having some stink issues in our overnight (pocket) diapers, and I wanted to try fitteds. But it seemed counter productive to put a breathable diaper on the bum, only to cover it in a PUL cover. So I tried wool.

Wool is breathable, antimicrobial, and can absorb a TON of liquid. Instead of trapping the liquid in (like PUL does), wool actually absorbs the liquids, and pulls them away from baby. How does it not reek? Because wool is antimicrobial! Wool can be used and reused over and over, and only has to be washed minimally! Trust me, wool is a cloth diaper dream come true.

So, we found that wool worked for us. Then I was on the search for CUTE wool! I mean, cloth diapering is nothing, if it's not cute, right? I came across Catchick6 Creations on Etsy. Holy. Freaking. ADORABLE!!! If you've ever looed into wool, you know that hand knit wool can get VERY pricey. Between the cost of the actual wool, and the cost of the labor to knit it, it can be way out of udget. But there is a secret out there. The secret is cute and affordable wool, and it's called upcycled or recycled wool.

Up/recycled wool is when somebody super smart gets the idea to repurpose old wool sweaters, and sews them into adorable longies! I mean, think about it. You could probably spend ten bucks at your local goodwill and get a ton of old wool sweaters. Of course, you are probably going to skip over the ugly Bill Cosby-esque nightmare, but there are plenty of cute choices for CHEAP! That is EXACTLY what Catchick6 Creations is all about!

To make the products even more adorable, Elizabeth (the genius behind the designs!) also does incredible and unique embroidery on her woolies! Seriously, she has tons and TONS of choices, and will also work with you on creating something custom! She was kind enough to send Chunky Monkey a pair of longies and matching hat to review. With what else, but a sock monkey!

I realize that I am slightly biased here, but come ON! Could this be any cuter? I think not. 

Catchick6 Creations woolies are so soft! There is nothing itchy or scratchy about them. The fit is also great. They have an elastic waistband, which is nice, because it will allow room to grow. The bum of the longies is plenty roomy, and accomodates even our fluffiest diapers. I've tried both super stuffed pockets under there, and overnight fitteds, and there is plenty of room. The legs are a bit tapered at the end, and if they would be too long, they can easily be cuffed up. Again, allowing room to grow, and you can use them for a longer time. 

I was really impressed with the function of the woolies. The inside of the longies in the diaper area (think of the area of a soaker) is actually 2 layers of wool, which means these babies are pretty much bulletproof. Our kid sleeps for a looooong time. Sometimes up to 15 hours a night, and we have yet to have a single leak with these. They work for naps, for night, and they look adorable on him for day. The embroidery is beautifully done. There are no loose stitches ANYWHERE, and the workmanship is really impressive. And seriously, that matching hat is icing on the cake! 

I am loving these longies! In fact, she has an adorable pair of shorties with a monkey on the bum in her shop right now that I am eyeing. Gotta stock up on that summer wool, you know? What do you think? Adorable? Do you want a pair?
