(BTW: we realized we need kids this age with the initals D, E, G, I, and J. We have the rest!)
All of Chunky Monkey's friends are VERY close to him in age. It's actually pretty cool, we all met through my Mom's Group (MyOmahaMommies, or MOM) and have all had a ton of fun having playdates together for the past year. My IRL and blogging pal Jessica hosted a super fabulous birthday party play date over at her pad. She kept telling us how low key it was going to be, and she wasn't doing much for it.
Um, yeah. Right.
Jess does nothing low key. I am not kidding you. There was a cake. A fondant cake, with zebra stripes. And cupcakes for the birthday boy and girl. And handmade party hats in zebra print with blue trim for the boys, while the girls had pink crocheted headbands with zebra bows on them. There were sandwiches. In a sandwich stand. And the evil woman introduced me to s'mores goldfish. Crack in a bowl, I'm telling you.
Zebra cake. It was orange cake. I decided it is called "Orange Creamsicle"
Swankiest play date, ever.
There were handmade birthday banners. Decorations on the doors, also handmade. (With her cricut, but still. Handmade) Oh, and the party favors?? Wooden blocks painted white, with zebra scrapbook paper. Each child cot one, with their initial on it, and a clip on top to hold a photograph, which she will send out of all the kids together in their hats/headbands in the thank you cards.
F & E enjoying a cupcake.
Low key, my ass.
C, being adorable. 'Cause I know you'll ask, the outfit is from baby Gap.
Anyway, we had a smashing good time! C discovered this xylophone toy, and was in looooove. He was pushing other kids away from it, so he didn't have to share. Great, huh? We had snacks, we did presents, we had cake.
E, checking out his Monkeysnuggles hat diaper that Chunky Monkey gave him for his bday.
B, saying "THAT kid, Mom! He won't share the xylophone!"
And then. My kid let his inner wild child out, and he showed me how he REALLY likes to party.

My floor has NEVER been cleaner :) (I hate my flooring, btw)
It was fun and very low key. I mean, I didn't make water bottle zebra striped covers or anything!
I will be blogging about it all this week, showing off the reviews and all that jazz.
Hey, can you take a picture of C's block? I forgot to get a closeup of one.
Thanks!
And, yes, if you live in the area and have a baby in our age range with a name that starts with one of those letters, please join MOM, be our friend, and hang out with us. We're thinking lots of initial shirts...
